Honoring Native Veterans: Lyonel Tso, Marine and Teacher

2015-11-09Lyonel Tso is Deer Springs and born for the Yucca Fruit-Strung-Out-In-A-Line Clan.  Tso’s parents are Herman and Orlinda Tso.  Tso is originally from LeChee, AZ and currently lives in Phoenix, AZ.

 

Tso is a graduate of Arizona State University and currently teaches 11th and 12th grade science in the Phoenix Union High School District.

Tso is a veteran of the United States Marine Corps, serving from 2004 to 2009.  He is a veteran of OperationIraqi Freedom and Enduring Freedom.  “I joined the Marine Corps because I had always wanted to be a Marine since I was young.  I like to help people and of course adventure is a

lways something I’m seeking, so being a Marine was a perfect fit,” said Tso.
When asked about his most memorable moment in the armed forces, Tso said, “The most memorable moments while serving was being able to serve with my fellow Marines in my unit through the good times and the all-to-often rough times.  The rough times being in the field, training, or even overseas always are the most memorable moments.”
