Leo Massey Jr., member of the White Mountain Apache Tribe, won the Wooly Rider Championship during the 2015 Arizona State Fair All Indian Rodeo. Massey is the son of Leo Sr. and Rolinda Massey and the grandson of Toleedo and Regina Massey of 7-Mile and Cecil and Myrtle Ivins of Cibecue.
Massey is seven (7) years old and attends second grade at Seven Mile Elementary School. Massey follows the long legacy of Apache cowboys within his family and is an avid dummy roper and working hard to be a competitive calf roper. In his spare time, Massey helps family in the 7T Cattle Association and spends time riding horses and roping the dummy.
The Arizona State Fair All Indian Rodeo was Massey’s first time participating in the Wooly Rider competition. He won his championship in a tie-breaking ride off in the finals.
