White Mountain Apache Tribe Announces 2016 Primary Election Results

The White Mountain Apache Tribe held Primary Elections for the Office of Tribal Council Districts I, II, III and IV on February 3 on the Fort Apache Indian Reservation.

 

The Primary Election determined the final list of candidates who will appear on the ballot from he Tribes General Election on April 6. Two (2) candidates from each district claimed victory in moving on to the General Election.

 

Election results by districts are as follows:

District I primary consisted of three (3) candidates including Arnold Beach Sr. with 237 votes, Gregg Henry with 73 votes and Ora Henry with 95 votes. Beach and O. Henry will appear on the General Election ballot.

 

District II primary consisted of three (3) candidates including Jarold Altaha with 96 votes, Reagan Armstrong Sr. with 132 votes and Sue Leslie with 92 votes. Altaha and Armstrong will appear on the General Election ballot.

 

District III did not have a Primary Election as there were only two (2) candidates running for office including Alvin DeClay Sr. and Ralph Thomas. Both will appear on the General Election ballot.

 

District IV primary consisted of four (4) candidates including Noreen Katy Aday with 208 votes, Hayden Anderson with 216 votes, Everette Massey with 437 votes and Herbert Tate with 273 votes. Massey and Tate will appear on the General Election ballot.

 

The 2016 Primary Election Results were canvassed and approved by the White Mountain Apache Tribal Council on February 4. The General Election will be held April 6.
